Nominate a Nurse
Friends of Nursing invites patients, their family members and friends and guests of the health system to nominate a nurse who should be recognized for nursing excellence.
It is an honor for a Duke Nurse to be nominated for a Friends of Nursing Excellence Award.
Annually, 38 winners are selected by a committee of nursing peers through a blinded review process. Nominees are evaluated on how they care for our patients, their loved ones, and colleagues, and how they exemplify the concepts of the Duke Nursing Professional Practice Model: Integrity, Excellence, Innovation and Collaboration.
The winners are honored at an annual Gala attended by health system leaders, colleagues, family and friends.
- Practicing in a caring manner leads to the nurse’s well being, both personally and professionally.
- Personal outcomes of caring include feeling important, accomplished, and whole.
- Professionally practicing caring leads to enhanced intuition, empathy, clinical judgment and work satisfaction.
